چکیده

Background and AimsThe role of decreased pyloric distensibility in gastroparesis as measured by the endolumenal functional luminal imaging probe (EndoFLIP) has been receiving increasing attention. In this study, we present clinical outcomes to dilation with esophageal FLIP (EsoFLIP) regard gastric emptying, symptom evolution, metrics.MethodsPatients evaluated for (gastric emptying studies t1/2 ?180 minutes during 13C-octanoic acid breath test and/or remnants gastroscopy after a sufficient fasting period) were scheduled EsoFLIP controlled dilation. Pre- postprocedural studies, questionnaires (Patient Assessment Upper GI Symptoms Severity Index [PAGI-SYM; including Gastroparesis Cardinal Symptom Index] Patient Quality Life [PAGI-QOL]), metrics documented. Dilation was conducted according self-developed algorithm.ResultsForty-six patients analyzed (72% women; median age, 39 years [range, 18-88]). Etiologies diabetic 10 (22%), idiopathic 33 (72%), postoperative 3 (6%). Postprocedural time from 211 179 (P = .001). accordance, distensibility, PAGI-SYM, PAGI-QOL, values improved significantly. After follow-up 3.9 months, 57% all treated returned reported symptoms.ConclusionsPyloric shows value treatment gastroparesis, both subjectively objectively. Long-term assess efficacy comparative trials are warranted. The metrics. Patients algorithm. Forty-six symptoms. Pyloric

Function of the pylorus and pyloric antrum in gastric emptying.

The function of the pylorus and the pyloric antrum in the control of gastric emptying has been studied in an isolated rat stomach-duodenum preparation. Pressures in the body and pyloric antrum and flow through the duodenum were recorded using electronic transducers. Vigorous peristalsis and episodic flow were induced by electrical stimulation. The pylorus is normally open until it is transientl...

Pyloric regurgitation and gastric ulcer.

Using a radiological test for pyloric regurgitation described by Capper, Airth, and Kilby (1966), it was confirmed that the pylorus is normally competent but incompetent in gastric ulcer and chronic alcoholic gastritis and often incompetent in chronic duodenal ulcer. The significance of pyloric regurgitation in the aetiology of gastric ulcer is discussed.
